This is my birthday weekend, I booked a trip to celebrate in St. Augustine with my wonderful friend Sonja, who’s birthday is also this month. She was not able to come but, I’m happy to say my beautiful daughter decided to take time off work to join me. I was actually not sure where to stay, but I knew I didn’t want to stay in a commercial hotel, so I decided on The Victorian House bed and breakfast Im glad I did because the B&B is great. The innkeepers are Anthony and his wife Marilyn. They are very kind and helpful with great suggestions of where to go and where to eat. The beds are comfy and the complimentary breakfast has been delicious.

Our first night here, we had dinner at Harry Seafood Bar and Grille, and let me tell you the crab cakes were flipping yummy. Highly recommend trying them.

The following day, which was yesterday we tried Casa de Vino 57. I had some great wine, ate some delicious cheeses while we listened to a brilliant singer vocalist, Jolie.

Today we walked down St George Street and stopped in some great shops with trinkets and clothes. If you love shopping for souvenirs that is the place to be.

I have a family full of educators and definitely needed to see The Oldest Wooden Schoolhouse. we got our diplomas, lol!!

McKaley and I hunted the Love Tree, a palm tree that had grown through and out of an oak tree. It’s beautiful how two things can be so different and then become one. Legend has it the if you kiss your love under the tree you will have everlasting romance. McKaley actually remembers seeing it as a little girl on one of our trips with her father. We did find the tree but unfortunately the little cafe the tree used to reside next to has closed down.

We then went for massages and decided to try Sphere on Spanish Street which is where our B&B innkeeper Anthony suggested. I had never really had a massage and I was so overwhelmed by how great it felt, that I literally cried afterwards. Adam my masseuse was amazing. I highly recommend him as well.

After our massages we went back to the B&B to rest up before our dinner outing. We decided to try O.C.Whites Restaurant on Avenida Menendez per our B&B Innkeeper suggestion. This place was constructed in the 1790s and eventually bought by the Worth Family. Mrs Worth who was married to General Worth actually died there and is said to still haunt the place. Their home was eventually turned into a restaurant that now has great live music and great food. We decided to sit out on the balcony on the second floor and enjoy some crab Gouda Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms as our appetizer and for the main course McKaley had Golden Fried Shrimp with fries and I had Shrimp Abaco Sauté, all tasted delicious.

This is all for now, let’s see what tomorrow brings. Here’s some pictures from our outings so far, Enjoy! My daughter looking beautiful

The Cathedral Basilica of St Augustine is simply gorgeous, a site to see.
