Hello again. Yesterday we did the touristy thing and checked out the Ripley’s Believe it or Not. McKaley My daughter remembered Bobby and I taking her there as a child. She remembered it as a very scary experience seeing all the big and little people, shrunken heads, ghosts, spiders and tribal masks. Well let me tell you, she is an adult now and was still frightened, lol! We had an amazing time there and this is definitely something fun todo with family. Believe it or not!
After we left there we went over to the Fort, called Castillo de San Marcos. It is the oldest fort in the United States. It actually reminded me of El Morro a fort in Puerto Rico I visited as a little girl. They look Very similar. One thing I have to say is It was hot as heck out there so please try visiting it in cooler weather.

McKaley left and went back to Savannah Georgia. I was kind of gloomy for a bit after she left and then I remembered having a great time with my dear friend who took me to the neighborhood local bar called Odd Birds. He introduced me to one of their many specialties called a smoked old fashioned, This is actually a nice twist to an already great drink. This place holds wonderful memories for me that I will never forget. The Bartender last night was exceptional, he really knows his craft and I again had a smoked old fashioned. So if you are looking for someplace fun to drink and meet new people then this is the place for you!

Today before leaving this great town I decided to go check out the Lightner Museum, I heard that there were some degas paintings but to my dismay the exhibit had already left the building. 😦 I still walked around and got to see some beautiful Tiffany glass and furnishings. The Lightner Museum was the former Alcazar Hotel built by Henry Flagler in 1888. The hotel closed after the depression and then later purchased by Chicagoan Otto Lightner in 1948. He had an eccentric collection and what better way to display it all than with a museum. 🙂

It’s the end of my Birthday trip. I want to thank St Augustine, I had a great time, I will definitely be back 🙂
